Fast growing coffee restaurant chain expands in Mount Dora, Tavares...
Foxtail Coffee has quickly become a popular hot spot for artisan coffees. The restaurant was established in 2016, and owners Alex Tchekmeian and Iain Yeakle have expanded to more than 45 locations throughout Florida and Georgia.
They recently opened a new location in downtown Mount Dora and are in the process of opening one in Tavares. These will be the third and locations in Lake, joining the stores in downtown Eustis and Loch Leven Landing in Mount Dora.
“I think our drinks are truly unique in that they are made manually, not with automated machines,” Mount Dora store supervisor Sophia Light said. “It’s better for flavor. All our beans are also locally roasted in Winter Park and distributed to our locations.”
Here's how Foxtail got its start
Tchekmeian and Yeakle met in South Florida when they were in kindergarten. They stayed close friends through the years and had an opportunity to combine their business experience in creating Foxtail Coffee Co. “Their initial vision for Foxtail began to take shape when the State Auto Body building, which stood in Winter Park for over 70 years, closed its doors,” their website states. “Shortly after, in this same warehouse, Alex and Iain opened their first café and roasting facility and began roasting coffee on-site, kegging cold brew, and supplying wholesale coffee to local restaurants.
"It wasn’t long after opening their doors that the line of guests started to flow out the door and then around the building. Foxtail quickly established a following of coffee lovers and now has cafés throughout Central Florida that serve its fresh, roasted coffee.”
The way coffee should be is their motto, based on producing coffee as a craft.
What's on the menu at Foxtail?
The cafe offers traditional coffee drinks including caffe lattes, americanos, cappuccinos, cafe Cubano, French press, cafe con leche and their signature cold brew.
They also serve a variety of teas including the chai tea latte, matcha tea latte, organic Nigiri black tea, blue lagoon tea, lavender coconut teas, raspberry rose tea, fire-roasted warrior tea, Florida chai tea and chai latte with pumpkin cold foam.
The seasonal specials include holiday cookie latte, peppermint mocha latte, eggnog latte, gingerbread latte, peppermint mocha cold brew, salted caramel mocha latte, coconut latte and coconut cold brew.
Customers also can pick up a bag of the signature roasted coffee beans or bottled world-famous cold brew.
Hungry? Breakfast sandwiches include egg, ham and cheese croissant; bacon cheese and jalapeño quiche; turkey sausage and white cheddar bagel; ham and Swiss baguette; and a caprese panini.
Bakery items include pumpkin bread, a fox gingerbread cookie, banana bread, croissants, muffins, hazelnut doughnut, oatmeal cream pie or chocolate chip cookies.
